The Police who entered into Jaffna University has threatened the students. With regard to this incident, Team Athavan approached the Students’ leader Rajeewan.
“We were planning to celebrate one of our collegue’s birthday and then there came some policemen who said they received a call to the 119 hotline. One of the policemen has used the sharpness of his tongue to the Security. A student questioned about bringing weapons to the University and he was threatened by the police saying that he would kill him” said Rajeewan.
Rajeewan also stated that the police noted his and another student’s personal details such Name and home address. The Team Athavan also met the Police with this regard, and they have refused saying they never entered the University premises.
The repression on Jaffna students is continuing although the killing of two Jaffna University students recently sparked outrage among the Tamil people.
