The President has been told that he has the authority to issue an order to declare emergency situation for the next 10 days, as he said at a press conference on Wednesday in the Jaffna media.
The suffering that our Tamil youth and women have suffered under such an emergency law is not to be told.
It is doubtful that the provisions of the Emergency for the Ampara and the Northern Provincial Council have been made public. The people who have attached to the government should understand that our people, who have already suffered this law, will be repeatedly affected.
Suresh Premachandran requested that the Leader of the Opposition and the Members of the Federation should continue to voice the bill that will continue to affect our people in the future.
In the meantime, if it is necessary to extend the provisions of the Emergency Act, it should be approved in Parliament.
The state of emergency was restored by the then President Mahinda Rajapaksa on August 24, 2011, in the country for 30 years following the conflict between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan government.
