Requested to conduct brief inquiries on murdered journalists

Batticaloa District Tamil Journalist Forum requests government to carry out investigations on murder of Dharmaratnem Sivaram shot dead at Colombo and Journalist Nadesan killed at Batticaloa.

Batticaloa District Tamil Journalist Forum as released special statement this regard. According to the statement, since 10 years of these alleged murders, Lankan government failed to carry out brief investigations on these murders. These two journalists were shot dead in high security area. New government promised to protect media freedom in this country. We call upon them to grant justice to these journalists. Due to various threatening journalists served in the North and Eastern parts of the island were forced to leave the country. Highest number of journalists from Batticaloa district also left the country. Forum expressed concern over new government on their failure to returning these journalists to their home town. They called upon the parliamentarians to impose pressure on government to conduct brief investigations on these murders. Journalists Sugirdhakumar was shot dead at the high security zone in Trincomalee, forum said.
