Right To Information Bill Presented to the Parliament

The Right to Information draft bill has been presented to the parliament by the Media Minister Gayantha Karunatilake today.
This bill was presented to the Parliament after getting delayed on technical grounds. The bill was earlier scheduled to be presented to the Parliament on the 10th of March.
The Right To Information Bill was an election promise of the President Maithripala Sirisena during the 2015 Presidential Election. Sri Lanka is the only major South Asian nation without a Right To Information Act.

The Media Minister also said that the Parliamentary Debate will begin tomorrow. The Prime Minister and the Speaker are trying their best to implement the Right To Information Act.
The Media Minister also said that he is very happy to Submit the Right To Information Bill today at the Parliament on the Birthday of the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
