People of Yuniyankulam in Killinochchi face great difficulties as they are unable to finish building the house and paying debts as well in the housing scheme based on the housing loans granted by the Housing Authority.
Once the war came to an end, 100 landless families were given lands at Yuniyankulam area and housing loan was also given to them. 23 families among them are unable to finish building the house.
Thus, unfinished houses are obsessed overgrown. These people, who faced various impacts of the war in the past, live their daily life without being able to fulfill their basic needs.
On the other hand, these people are living in the midst of great pressure as they are unable to pay the debts cause of the loan given to them. They further added that they could now realize that this housing scheme based on the loan is the scheme which makes them under pressure and they asked the authorities to cancel the housing loan given to them.
