Eight persons, Including the Former DIG Vass Gunawardena were summoned to the High Court over the assault on a SLIIT Student.
Eight individuals including the former DIG Vass Gunawardena, Gunawardena's wife Shyamali Perera, his son Ravindu Gunawardena and five police personnel were summoned by the Colombo High Court on September 5th, over the alleged abduction and assault of a student of the SLIIT, Malabe, in 2009.
The student, Nipuna Ramanayake, was allegedly abducted and assaulted on a date between August 8 and 21 in 2009.
Vass Gunawardena and his son, along with five policemen, have already been given the death sentence for the murder of a businessman.
