For past 8 years parents looks for son's arrival

Subramaniyam Ramachchandran 37 years old Tamil journalist from Jaffna was arrested by the Sinhala army at Wadamarachchi Kaligai junction on year 2007.

Since eight years after his disappearances 85 years old father and 83 years old mother of Ramachchandran looking for their son’s return. 8 and 9 years old children of this journalist also counting days for their father’s return. Parents of Ramachchandran says we want to see our son before our death. At present parents of this journalist residing at Karawatti Thunnalai East, Jaffna. International media monitoring organizations failed to pay their attention on my son and also local authorities failed to conduct internal probe on this matter. They are delaying the internal probe. Investigation not yet reached to Vadamarachchie. Lankan military personals arrested Ramachchandran on 25th of February 2007 at Kodigaamam junction at Point Pedro, relatives and area residents said. Lankan military personals have handed over him towards EPDP. We waited for our son at Kaaligai junction but he didn’t returned back. Prior to his disappearances Ramachchanran wrote an essay to Yaz Thinakural on illegal sand mining carried out by the Lankan army. Area residents believe Ramachchandran would have been taken to the Balapai intelligence camp. In order to hide the murders reported at this village, military personals have ordered villagers not to dig well in this village. Since 1999 this village was completely controlled by the Lankan army. Members of the International Media Forum recently visited the Northern SriLanka says we can observe development in media freedom at North but all journalists and people were continuously monitored by the state intelligence unit members. International Media Forum called upon direct intervention on investigations on deaths and disappearances of Jaffna based Tamil journalists.
