Reconciliation is the foundation for all communities to work together: President

President Maithripala Sirisena says reconciliation is the foundation for all communities to work together. The President made this statement while addressing the 75th anniversary celebrations of St. Anthony’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 03.
The plaque established in line with the 75th Jubilee of the school was unveiled by President Maithripala Sirisena. The ceremony got underway thereafter.
Speaking at the event, the President said that the first step for reconciliation is introducing children to unity, harmony and brotherhood among communities. He pointed out that this should be done in order to implement the reconciliation framework between different religions, ethnicity and race. He further added that he honors and appreciates the advice of the Catholic priests that was given to him over the past six months as president. The President further stated it is important to give priority to the future of the child, if we intend to foster proper citizens in the country.
He noted that the best establishment to building a good society is a person’s school, church or any other place of worship and It is in these places that a person can fulfill his or her prime responsibilities by creating a proper mentality and a government of a country can take many policy decisions and provide guidance but the implementation of all these things lie in the hands of the next tier. He finally added that the guidance and advice provided by the clergy who are the top most tier in society is of utmost importance.
