Sri Lankan Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi has said that the tri-forces of Sri Lanka are on full alert over the threat of the ISIS terrorist groups.
Mr. Hettiarachchi assured that the Defence security is on alert of such threat as they have targeted Asian countries such as Bangladesh.
He said the security of the Bandaranayke International Airport would be tightened in the wake of the threat.
Earlier, he said although there were reports of Sri Lankans joining ISIL, there was no concrete evidence to suggest the group was operating in Sri Lanka.
However, earlier this year, the Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defense said the security forces and all intelligence agencies were on full alert on the possibility of any groups having links with the ISIS making their appearance in the country.
