Mullaitivu district has a large area of land in the Mahaweli Authority in the project area and plans for a massive Sinhala settlement named Mayapura.
If the project is in place, a large number of Tamils in the Mullaitivu district can be extracted and the Tamil people can be evacuated.
Furthermore, the
Governor of Northern Province is continuously trying to provide permanent houses for Sinhala people settled in the Kokkilai Mukthamaram area of the border village of Mullaitivu district.
However, due to the lack of permanent lands to provide housing, the land belonging to the Tamil people behind the Kokkilai police station has been identified as land owned by the Mahaweli Development Authority .
Subsequently, the Tamil people, the owners of the lands, set their fence and set up fences. This plan has been stopped.
A secret meeting was held in the Mullaitivu District Secretariat yesterday.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials including the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, Central Government Ministry officials and District Secretary.
At this time the Mahaweli Authority has stated that their project area, now with Kalyanapura, has been expanded to include a large number of Tamils, including Nandakulam, Nandakulam.
This expansion is named 'Mayapura'. The Mahaweli Authority can use power within its project area. Sinhalese people have been settled in
the lands where the Tamil people have been stripped of lands in the areas where it has been so far .
In the meanwhile, a large number of Tamil villages are being Sinhalised and the Tamil people living there will be discharged from their native places if they have been distributed in the area of the Mahaweli Authority, including Naira, Andankulam, Nithyagikulam and many other Tamil villages.
As far as the Tamil people living in the villages of Kokkalai, Kokkadodu and Karunakaran Kanni are concerned about the issue ,
our large number of lands have already been seized by Sinhala colonies. We are aware that this is a massive plan to extort the lands we live in and give to the Sinhala people .
Tamil politicians have to make sure that they are committed to taking a firm and urgent action.
Likewise, we have decided to unite the people together and take a fierce battle against the above seizure. In fact, the Tamil political parties were to attend and vote for this aggression.
