Legacy antiques of Tamils are crippled in the museum as the Lord Buddha has appropriated the University of Jaffna, some of the University students stated.
Akilaviraj Kariyavasam, the Minister of Education, visited the University of Jaffna to take part in the event for the protection of cultural heritage of Northern Sri Lanka organized by the archaeological section of the Department of History of the University of Jaffna together with the Central Cultural Fund.



In honor of the visit of the Minister of Education, an exhibition was organized as in a manner to show the archeological heritage. University of Jaffna approached the help of the University of Colombo to organize this particular exhibition.



Following to that, evidences showing the ancient heritage of Buddhism and Buddha statues were brought by the University of Colombo to the University of Jaffna and exhibited.
During this, evidences showing the ancient heritage of Tamils were locked into the museum of the Department of History, according to the accusation made by the students.



Why were the evidences showing the ancient heritage of Tamils blacked out at the opening ceremony for the protection of cultural heritage of Northern Sri Lanka?, the students of the University of Jaffna asked.
“All religious symbols should be equally treated”
In the meantime, Akilaviraj Kariyavasam, the Minister of Education, opened the Central Cultural Center at the Jaffna Fort.



In this particular place also, evidences showing the ancient heritage of Buddhism and Buddha statues were enormously exhibited.
The Minister of Education, who observed these things, stated that he respects all religions though he is a Buddhist and further stated that all the religious symbols should equally treated in the exhibition.
